Mighty_Irwin Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Hi - my pcpartpicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xbW2pg I built this comp design with some guys, but I'm not looking to spend this much. I currently lag playing Diablo 3 and sometimes LoL on my laptop, so I'm looking to upgrade a bit. But like I said I don't want to spend that much, so I'm trying to cut any costs on parts that I might be overpaying for. So yeah, tear up this comp plan and let me know where I can cut some costs. I most likely won't play anything more advanced than D3 on it. Thanks.

B L l l T Z Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Looks good I would recommend liquid cooling though so you can get the most out of your system.

Ruhvenge Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 You don't want to overspend but you're total is $1593.46? I could build you a PC for > 500 dollars that could play league at 120 fps and probably the same on diablo. That's definitely overboard if you only plan to play some simple games like league of legends and diablo. Your monitor most notably will be a waste unless you play FPS games that support 144 Hz and are motion intensive where motion blur is a problem, specifically CS:GO. If you really have the money its an amazing purchase, but if you're looking to keep it cheap and you don't play those types of games, don't bother. Also, don't buy windows 10. I recommend pirating it. Yes it's illegal (lol), but 100 dollars on just that is DEFINITELY a waste. I have 100+ windows 10 upgrade keys that you could use if you really needed one. Also, you could purchase a used 970 or 980 and cut the price in half while still being 100% functional. Trust me, people think buying used computer parts = death but you're wrong. Now poorly researched used parts (e.g buying it off ebay from some random ass kid named XxBlazE42OXx) is a dumb idea. Usually places like Newegg and Amazon offer you great warranties in the case that anything happens but honestly if you purchase it used from them, you won't have any problems. Let me know if you'd like me to elaborate on some things, and possibly make cuts in other parts of the computer. :p
Craig Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 @@Ruhvenge seems to have a clue about this PC tech stuff :o I may ask you to help with a new PC configuration when I choose to buy a new one, that's if you'd give me any advice :)

Let me know whenever. I've built several computers and had tons of upgrades, downgrades, and experience with different parts these last few years so I have a good idea with builds. Especially with doing them on a budget seeing as I'm a broke college student.
Lubo Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) Get 16GB of Ram now, 8GB was the standard for a gaming PC 4 years ago. Also don't get one stick of ram, You won't be able to use Dual channel - Get 2 8GB Sticks Not sure if you need a PC now or what but Nvidia is meant to be bringing out new graphics cards soon could be worth waiting a bit.
