Craig Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I wont be building it myself someone will be doing it for me (Please dont reply saying its easy do it yourself etc, i prefer the convenience of it being done right the first time, plus it will be under warranty) Im currently running a HP laptop dual core 2.1 GHZ processor and 3GB RAM. To be fair it sucks dick big time and ive had enough. Im going to upgrade within the next month but need some advice. It will be mainly for RS and the odd Steam game like Total War etc What i am considering is this type of build: Anything i should change/add or remove? Any feedback is appreciated, cheers.
Marc|Criti Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I'd buy separate thermal paste (Arctic Silver 5 for example) other than that, looking good!
Thanos Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Don't buy a K CPU if you get a H motherboard (H usually always HDD/SSDs in raid over B motherboards over a few other functions) - if you plan on overclocking get a Z motherboard, if not you're probably better off just getting a B-series motherboard (or keep the H) but change your cpu to a non-K version. Right now you have a u-ATX motherboard which imho is a waste of money, usually buying smaller motherboards costs you the same but has less options available. The PSU doesn't give me a lot of hits and it's non-modular. 450W on its own is decent and should be sufficient, but I'd check around for a ~Gold 450/500W modular PSU just because it's so much easier to install, no wires annoying and sticking out. 16GB RAM is obviously enough btw, but all depends on what applications you plan on using otherwise you could consider 8GB as well if money is an issue. Overall pretty decent build though, will last you a while :)
Briggsy Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Lmfao you do not need 16gb of ram. 8gb is fine, the Ram isn't the thing that bottlenecks. Hope you're getting a 2nd hard drive Lmfao you do not need 16gb of ram. 8gb is fine, the Ram isn't the thing that bottlenecks. Hope you're getting a 2nd hard drive

Lubo Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) Change processor and motherboard new CPU's are out (i5 6600K) which is 1151 socket so find a new motherboard which is 1151, I would really suggest getting a 970 instead of a 960, And yeah get 16GB of ram DDR4, Get a brand name 650 watt power supply, Evga, Superflower, Corsair etc. That motherboard is also Micro ATX when the case can take full sized ATX motherboards, Not sure if you're going for a small setup or what. Budget? Edited March 31, 2016 by Lubo
LieV2 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Make sure above everything else that the left phalange doesn't malfunction. In fact, in this specific build, it's almost worth getting a new one.
