`Ben Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Issue isn't really about the academies. It's about general transfer policy. Chelsea mass buy younger players, not because they want them or want to develop them, it's simply so opponents can't get them to compete. These young foreign players don't even make it into the academies - they get loaned straight out. While Chelsea buy loads of young players and loan them out, their academy teams consist of the best English kids who have grown up playing together. They beat Spurs 7-1 in the Semi final of the FA youth cup a few weeks ago. 9 of their starting 11 were English and had been at the club since under 15s. However, few will make it to the next level as the club doesn't put it's trust in youth - unlike Spurs.
