Currently using the oldest laptop in the world that has a shit fit when I open more than one window on internet explorer so pretty much decided I need to get a new one. Anybody any recommendations? Not going to be used for any gaming apart from RS so it doesn't need to be top of the line and I'm not looking spend a fortune on it. Any advice appreciated.

(apologies if this is the wrong place for this topic, seemed the most general)

What's your budget like, and any hardware/software preferences like SSD/Windows etc.?

Honestly not sure what a reasonable budget is these days but was hoping to sit around the £300 mark if not less as I'm a tight fisted arsehole. As I say it doesn't have to be flashy. Windows preferable, stick with what I know.

Uhhh if you have one already you could just buy upgradegear online. Works good for me

edit: ^ that's an option for pc but saw you said you have a laptop

Yeah I can help if you give me a good lil budget like paul said :P So I have an idea of what you could buy.

Looking at spending around the £300 mark but if there's virtually nothing worth having around there then I guess I'll have to go higher. Windows preferably and doesn't need to be ridiculously good as RS is probably the most complex thing I'll run on it.

I'd just make sure u have a decent graphics card for gaming and 8 GB of RAM and should be solid.

Those probably start at like $500 though for something along those lines now though

I bought a laptop like 4 Years ago now for $1000 with 8GB RAM and a NVIDIA GFX Card was inside.

Ended up building my own desktop later on put like $1000 into it so far

if it’s only for Runescape he should focus more on a good Cpu as Runescape does not use the Gpu as far as I’m aware

Jensen is correct.

Any i3 core laptop will do you for just rs, ignore anyone who says you need a good graphics card - doesnt matter, rs runs almost entirely off cpu - but any i3 core will essentially be fine, they're around your price range

should be fine mate I have 3 core (pretty sure one of my cores have died as well) so 2 core and 6gb ram and I play league too which is a lot more intensive, if you want it just for rs/ general internet surfing you're good to go with that.

Why a laptop though and not a desktop?

Haven't got the space for a desktop at the minute until I move out. Probably will end up getting one for the new house though.

Yeah thats fine

That's good cos I bought it about ten minutes after posting on here haha. Can barely run RS and Teamspeak at the same time on my current one so this is going to be so much better, cant wait to get it set up.

Look for an I5 processor with 4gb ram or more and 500gb hard drive or more. Could go for an I3 processor if the ram is higher than 8 but I would recommend i5 or higher for good laptop. Personally going to buy a refurbished laptop; Can get the maddest specs for a fairly cheap price and you build onit if you want by adding parts etc.. to improve it. Still get your normal warranty on refurbished laptops depending on where you get it from.
