If you're into cheesy ones you should check out "Cube" It's from 1997 and not scary but it is epic from start to finish.

"Horror" movies these days are made up of loud sounds to make you jump, and lots of gore.. which isn't scary. I love gore, but it's more of an action type of movie (Ex. The saw series).

There's not many out there that are actually scary.. but I'll name a few.

The Descent (Will keep you on edge), Hostel (The first one, the second one sucks), The Strangers (Love the suspense, and the ending is cash), and Bug (Was drunk when i watched it, but it seemed legit).

I also heard Pandorum is beastly, came out last week. I bought it, but haven't watched it yet.

I tried watching The Strangers and didn't bother watching it past the part where the guy shoots his best friend. It was just too fucking terrible to be honest ._.
