Finest Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Using my girlfriend's MacBook Pro (mid-2014) which isn't terrible, but as you can imagine Macs aren't exactly great for gaming & even OSRS on a 3rd party client & trying to record preps or weekends, I can't. Laptop just gets way too hot & loud. I've been looking for a good gaming laptop for awhile now & I'm looking for suggestions. Not trying to spend a ton of money either, I know that may be difficult. Reason I'm going for a laptop instead of a PC is because I prefer the portability. I saw somewhere on a forum that now is probably the best time to buy a gaming laptop, so if that's true I'd like to capitalize on that. Now... Suggestions? Price range is around $500-$800 I'd say.
Thanos Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Don't buy a gaming laptop at that budget it'll be a hot flaming pile of garbage Find an all-purpose laptop but tbh it will be difficult finding an actually solid one at that $

Hmm.. How about a $1k budget?

Haven't been in the loop actively but the thing is with a gaming laptop that either the battery is gonna be garbage, the screen is gonna be garbage, or it's gonna be heavy as shit. It's a trifecta of quality, performance and money and you can only pick one unless you're shilling out like 1500-2000$ realistically. I'd still go for an all-purpose laptop. Biggest difference between "gaming" laptops and normal laptops are usually a big upgrade GPU wise which you don't need for OSRS. Idk whether clients use hyperthreading properly but it's not worth the hundred(s) of dollars jump from an i5 to an i7. 1k$ will get you a better machine though for sure, just look for a random new gen i5, any basic video card, 256GB SSD, full HD screen, 8GB+ RAM
amen Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Laptops are fucking trash for gaming i'd just go for a desktop, gl

T O B Y Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 get a HP Probook. It cost me £200. It has 8GB Ram, i5 proccessor and 250gb hdd along with a 15.6 inch screen, super slim laptop. I could run ANYTHING and mutiple things and it never overheats or make noise.

Yeah you ain't getting that for ~$200.
hanu Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 For the top of your budget you can get some decent laptops that will easily run RS and some less hard to run games like fortnite etc pretty well as long as you dont try to play at max settings. Something like this is actually pretty solid for what you want https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1TS-000X-00S36 1
