Hey guys,

At the end of May I will be going to New York as a study trip for my Masters in Financial Management. After this, I will be going to Washington with my girlfriend. I am checking for the best way to travel from NY to DC but I get different suggestions. What is in your opinion the best way to travel? I will be on Sunday the 2nd of June.

Thanks in advance!

Done this trip 5+ times in the past 6 months. Found that Amtrak is by far the best option. If you book your trip now, it should be relatively cheap ($100?)

Flying is not worth it for the $200+ round trip ticket.

Bus is by far your cheapest option, but you'll be sitting in an uncomfortable as hell seat, with some borderline homeless person next to you for 5 hours or so.

I used the site "Wanderu.com" to check out deals on things.

It looks like it’s only around a 4 hour drive. That’s about the same amount of time from my house all the way down past Chicago and I take that drive like 5 times a year for concerts. Split the gas with your girl and it should be the cheapest and most convenient cuz while your in dc you can be mobile on your own time and not be restricted.

Wow so many reactions, thanks guys!

I think I will rent a car as it is even cheaper than 2 train tickets $168 a person. Thanks for all the advice!
