the only proof is that he downloaded it a week ago and he said he was hacked yesterday.. googled "runelite hacks" and found more cases of people saying their accounts were hacked after using Runelite on Reddit, but there are responses like yours along with "Runelite shows their source code".

 

I just know a few people in here use it, and a common denominator is the client.  I am not 100% sure it was Runelite but I would rather be safe than sorry :/

There are a lot of fake Runelite clients out there that practically allow you to do the same thing as the regular one so it doesn't look as fishy but still infected.

 

Only real download to that client is https://runelite.net/

Now adays with 3 step auth, how the hell could someone even pull it off?  Just take the proper security measures if you're going to use 3rd party programs.
