Luka Modric named "The Best"

FIFA has named Real Madrid/Croatia midfielder Luka Modric as "The Best Player", at their annual award ceremony, ending the decade-long domination of Ronaldo & Messi for this award.

 

 

Thoughts?

 

The other finalists were Ronaldo and Salah.

 

 

Note: This award used to be part of/merged with the "Ballon D'or" until a few years ago.

He has had a better season, specially in the world cup since he carried his team to the final.. But in terms of an actual "best player" Messi/Ronaldo are still better.

hard to compare tho since they playing in way different positions. Modric is the best midfielder in the world, while Ronaldo/Messi are the best attackers in the world. Modric been such a crucial keyplayer for RM during their last 3 CL trophies and were also the best player in the World Cup.

Unreal player.

 

People think it was Bale that carried Spurs years ago but we missed Modric more when he left. Glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. It isn’t a surprise it comes when Ronaldo has moved on and no longer in the lime light at Madrid.
