Thanks man and yeah I could definitely get through it much faster without the negative bonuses. I was just following the most effective in slot guide on https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Thermonuclear_smoke_devil/Strategies minus the karils and a couple of the more expensive items. 

First time doing this boss today so for the rest of the task I'll make the switch to my bandos set as I have around 90 left.

The pet is 1/3000 and the Occult is 1/350.

Yo that's sick mate, gratty! You should use karils top and bottom and not armadyl since it has negative melee bonuses.

Thanks bro and yeah that is what eventually switched over to.
Got a lot more kills with that armor during a trip.
