Yes, it does. For farcasting, then if they cannot fight back, they should be hybridding and it's their fault, it weeds out the weak.

The most important skill, you can freeze/stop your opponent, also while causing damage, you can also teleblock. While range and melee you can just attack and use special attacks.

Lol.. mage used to not matter.  I remember a time when every pure clan disallowed farcasting and classified it as NH.  But times change, and now it's pretty popular to use all the advantages, and mage is a big one.  So yeah, it matters.
