severed arow Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Ok Devlz told me to make drawing with layers so i made the four layers he told me to make outline shading colour and background and i drew the outline of the drawing, then i went to colour it with paint bucket tool on the colour layer however it coloured the whole sheet. So what i am trying to ask is is there a way to overcome this? so i can still use the paint bucket tool without having to draw the outline on different layers? Thanks in advance ;)
Harvey Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Use the magic wand tool to select the sections inside the lines of the outline (if that makes sense), then with the section/s still selected click on the colour lay, then use the paint bucket :) Should work.
severed arow Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 I LOVE YOU! plus how did i not think of that?
Devlz Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I do it differently lol. I go a layer under the one with the lines. Take a brush, pick the desired color and give it a nice size for faster coloring. So basically you just color it the same way like you made the lines. ;)
severed arow Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 ah ok i might try that cause the way i just did it left uncolored lines inbetween the line and the block of color :))
Harvey Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Ah cool, I'm not a graphics pad user :) What i personally do is use the pen tool / polygonal lasso to make the selections, fill them in one layer (Edit > Fill) then on a new layer stroke the same selection so I get the outline seperately. Not sure if that'd work with a pad though.
severed arow Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 i only really use the tablet to draw the outlines :L the colouring i usualy do using a mouse but with wytchcrafts way ill use tablet i reckon ::)
severed arow Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 AAARRGGHHH, why can't i shade no matter how i shade it it looks crap i just cant hade i mgonan go find a shading tut lol
Harvey Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Decide on a source of light, i normally go for top right corner. make sure all the shadows are in the right place, ie. the opposite side to the light source :) hope that helps.

I C0NN0R I Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 tl:dr comments, sorry if someone already said it, but just use a brush and paint down colours on the layer below the linework. If you go outside the lines just erase it afterwards.
