WilliamSoimimiva Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 So people are shocked that there was booing when the starters were pulled. Well, I dont think any FAN should have been shocked. Ive been a fan since the Dowhower days. I cheered through Infante, Marchibroda, Mora... I cheered Trudeau, Harbaugh, I even cheered Jeff George. I cheered when everyone else called them the "Dolts". And Im not alone. A lot of us spent a couple decades riding the rollercoaster and believing. And what is our reward? This isnt about losing. We cheered through a LOT of losing. We felt for our Colts when they lost... we knew what its like to try your best and lose anyway; its a basic lesson in life, the lesson we want our children to learn, the lesson of life thats so important we include competitive sports in the public schools: Sometimes you do everything right, you do your best, and you lose anyway... but if you never give up, always keep trying, sometimes magic happens. Thats why the fans stick with their teams- theyre waiting for the magic thats the reward for a lifetime of striving. But the team didnt stick with the fans. If the Jets had beaten the Colts, wed have understood- it happens. Thats the lesson of life, of sports. But they didnt- the Colts threw the game. They denied us the magic. They said our years of support through bad management, bad teams, bad times didnt mean a damn thing to them. Understand that Im talking about the management here, not the players- I dont blame Painter; he played his heart out. So did all the others. And yes, I hear all you self-proclaimed experts saying "Youd be talking out of the other side of your mouth if Peyton had gotten hurt." No, we wouldnt. It happens; we all know that. If that had happened, wed have been beaten- but we would have been BEATEN, we wouldnt have SURRENDERED. Theres no shame in losing to a better effort, or to bad luck, as long as YOU DID YOUR BEST. The Colts didnt. I can hear you saying "Who knows best- you, or the coach?" Well, I look to the Patriots- Tom Brady was played even though they were four touchdowns ahead, and I think Bellicheck knows a little about winning Super Bowls Let me ask all you "experts" something: if the regular season doesnt matter, if the only record that matters is the Super Bowl, why didnt they bench the starters five games ago? 10-6 is enough to get into the playoffs; if thats all you care about, why have you been risking Manning for the last month? instant loans online | payday loans canada
