severed arow Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I want to do pull ups but they are just one thing i have never been able to do im a quite strong stronger than most people my age that i know and im not hugely fat im not skinny ive got quite a big build but not fat, im guessing i just haven't got strong enough muscles that are used in a pull up / chin up what exercises can i do at home to train to do pull ups and chin ups? This is just a little personal goal ive set myself i'd appreciate any help :)

If you are fat, lose weight. If you are doing it horribly wrong, watch youtube tutorials (sad but some ppl do it) edit: I just read ur post, you probably have failed genes and lack upper body strength.

Your natural strength (strength that you will have regardless if you work out) is ingrained in your genes Are you a personal trainer? NO. So the only explanation left is that you have horrible genes.. weak genes and your mom could have horrible genes also or anyone in your family. You are just shit out of luck if you are that weak.

Hit the gym, shit or even just get off your computer and do some pushups. i go to the gym but im 15 and they dont let you use weights until your are 16 so i just overload on cardio and core

Carry stuff around, hit a punching bag... theres so many forms of excercise out there that dont require anything.

Muchuchu Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 you have to learn the swinging technique if you really want to get good at them when i was getting ready for my marine FT i could barely do a few without dropping but after a few days of learning how to do them i was up to 9 which was the average. they're not as hard as you think

Yes lol when i was 12 i wanted a 6 pack and since then ive neglected my back and pecs especially i got abs beast legs good biceps not so much tricepts shit pecs and ok back :L
Mike (0BR) Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 What kinda pull ups you doing here? Reverse grip? Wide grip? Close grip? Reverse grip is the standard pull up people think of, that's where your biceps come into play, so if you're having a hard time doing those then you have very weak biceps. Wide grip and close grip both involve using your back muscles. I'm assuming those are the ones you're talking about.
