PkraNger|Ahrim Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Ok well, a couple weeks ago i dug out an old laptop I had had from a few years prior, and found out that the thing has some problems. First that seems to bug me a bit more is the fact that the speakers don't play any sounds other than the beeps, ect. from microsoft like default kind of stuff. [no audio from websites/ts/basically everything] But the beeps in Irc still work like highlights. Second, the backlight went out and was wondering if fixing it without taking it into a specialist would be possible. I have a spare 1200 that i can use for a working bulb or w\e is required, but I don't know anything about this stuff. So I would love your feedback, and any hints/tricks to help solve these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
d72 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 if it's making just beeps then that usually means that there's no audio plugin or audio software installed
PkraNger|Ahrim Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 How should i go about getting that, just as easy as downloading one?
VxT Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 1. Go to device manager, check to see which drivers aren't installed (e.g audio), install them. (Google the laptop model for drivers) 2. Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't suggest fixing the screen issue. You might need to replace the whole screen, or the invertor, or the screen cable.
PkraNger|Ahrim Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 For the past couple weeks, since this is my only computer I can use whenever I need it, I took the plastic covering off of the screen area and behind the screen, and placed a lamp to shine through the back and light up the page. It's annoying but managable
Jim Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Screen jobs aren't really fixable from home, but you can take it to a ghetto ass back ally computer store and get it fixed for little cash.
