People calling each others "retards" way too mcuh

I am absolutely sick and tired of every single online game or community I go to there is always somebody calling someone a "retard", "tard" or, some other demeaning word. I fail to understand how in any sense this is funny or even makes sense in the context its in. Everyone goes around using it for everything as the most common comeback or used an "funny" insult, being called a "retard" is not funny most of the time in eyes of the person who is being insulted or made fun of, even if it is inside a virtual world, that person you are talking to does have feelings, every human being has feelings and you better think again by saying it otherwise. There are people out there that might take it extremely seriously and you have NO idea, NONE on how it effects them unless they either tell you or your some magic know it all who thinks its just a joke?

I do NOT think being "retarded" is a joke or even remotely funny, so not being able to function using SIMPLE motor skills, using basic thinking capacities is fun they how about you try it a day...

So you go online, whatever game or forum it is(anything) and you see some person for some reason you hate them enough or just think their stupid because they don't match YOUR standards, who gave you the FUCKING right to set the world standards? You think their dumb, you want to be lets call it humorous so you quickly think of some of the simplest, easiest words to use to insult someone. One of the first that now often comes to our head? Retard.  So you decide to call them a Retard in your little heated argument well lets see they were able to properly communicate to you by responding to your little word, they understand it and they might have previously made an argument such as this one before you called them a tard. Hmm that person does NOT sound retarded to me.... yet YOU have absolutely NO idea AT ALL on how your name calling and bullying them can possible effect them in REAL LIFE. You have to realize behind every monitor there is a HUMAN being, think before you act and speak and most of all follow the classic rule of how you would want to be treated.

Now you want to call me a retard? Okay do it, you don't know me, you have NO idea what my personal life is. So call be a god damn fucking retard. Hmm, lets just evaluate what you just did... ONE, you INSULTED me, TWO, you've PISSED me off beyond belief and THREE you make remind me in an odd sense how lucky I am and last but not least you don't know me, but what IF, WHAT IF my life was different than what you thought, like Ive said you don't know who is behind the screen until now. That is my younger brother, now do you think a person like that is trolling on these forums? I think not. Would YOU, the person who called ME that, be like he is? Would YOU like to have somebody have to do MANY of the SIMPLEST daily functions for you, changing your diaper, bathing you, feeding you, always having to support you? Being Mentally Retarded is not funny, not even close. My brother Max who is 14 was born with his condition known as cerebral palsy, he is unable to think like all of us, he doesn't know there is something called years, days of the week, food etc. So you want to be called that? See how damn insulting that is to them. Going out in public, people like this are stared at ALL of the time. We go to a top notch restaurant, people ASK NOT TO BE SEATED NEAR US, because of my brother, would YOU think thats funny if thats YOUR family? Want to say it to their face.

Let me ask you something? If you were to call me a retard, would YOU EVER think I had a BROTHER like that, who I have to take care of daily help with all the time, who goes through several intense seizures a month, who almost died twice from intense episodes. So having .gifs and such of seizures and stuff like that is funny? People die from them btw.

You know what else is NOT funny?

When he turns older I have to adopt him by law because my parents combined ages will be too old. Meaning I have to make HIS LIFE CHOICES where he goes, what happens to him and so forth. I will be his legal guardian. Thats not funny.

When Max was born I didn't know he was going to become both a hardship and a joy when I grew up. He is the insight that rarely anyone besides my family and people at school know about. My brother Max has cerebral paulsy in his left arm and was born with it at birth. He is severely disabled not really being able to communicate (besides making noises, clapping etc) and he is not able to walk and such. He is a huge inspiration to have even though you wish he wasn?t like how he is I think to myself how blessed I am to have him and how special he is to me and I will miss him dearly when he?s gone. The only people who really knew about him up to this point were  as most other people don?t care. I just wish people will notice what a joy those kids can be and just because they are different it doesn?t mean they shall be shunned or disrespected in public.

The reason I wrote this was because people are always going around making fun of some kids online for being 'retards' not even knowing what the word means or making fun of some teenager as he "sucks" you NEVER know who or what their situation is behind that screen you NEVER know so guys please the next time you talk shit to some stranger online think about how it could effect them, you may never know how that can emotionally of physically effect them.

You DO NOT know that persons life behind the monitor think before you act.

Before you read my response, I ask you to read my opinion on subjects like this... My belief is that anything and everything can be taken humorously... Racism is funny,  People online calling me an idiot, or flaming me is funny... I'm an American and I think that 9/11 has some jokes about it. If this offends you, I'm sorry but that's what I think. I know someone is already thinking about flaming me in their response, please, don't bother. I know people have attachments to things or take things personally when it means a lot to them. For example, people who know someone who died in the 9/11 attacks won't think the jokes are funny, that's understandable. Also to dmonspawn, your definition of retarded isn't correct. Retard - to make slow; delay the development or progress of (an action, process, etc.); hinder or impede. Thus, retarded means to have been made slow. There are people who are retarded and live normal lives, it depends on the degree of retardation. I understand where you're coming from, it is frustrating when ignorant people say stupid shit, but you shouldn't be bothered by it.

TL;DR - Retard actually means to make slow, and there are different degrees of retardation, not everyone has the same problems and not everyone has the same inabilities.
