Kyle Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 K well my xbox has had disk error for quite a while basically its when your xbox cant play any disks, it just says open tray, i've already called xbox customer support My only free option here is getting 3 flashing red rings, then sending in with red ring warranty and getting it fixed... What are some ways to get 3 flashing red rings?
O InstinctZ Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Its a common problem only caused from flipping xbox horizontally to veritcally a decent amount of times. How to fix: i will tell you what to do. I have the same problem flip your xbox like if its horizontal put it vertical-veritcal usually never has problem if veritcal flip horizontal. Hope this helps this how i fixed mine.
FlapJack Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 while your xbox is running pull the plug out. I think if it overheats it will get red-ringed.
Creamie pies Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Just bang it around a bit (hard) Thats what I did.
Kyle Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 If i keep it on all day will it get 3 red rings?
O InstinctZ Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 don't get red rings lol it happens from when xbox hard drive is melted so yes if you leave it long enough it can overheat giving red rings. Also it could cause an electrical fire lol.
severed arow Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 just keep it on playing a game for as long as possible until it gets red rings every so often pull the plug out and then turn it back on and carry on over heating it , put a towel ect on top of it to speed up the over heating process make sure its on carpet as well as it will overheat quicker on that.
alec Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 the towel trick where u wrap the xbox in 3 towels failed for me. I had a different problem i think though. my xbox would like freeze every 20 minutes. It said it was going to be about 150 dollars to fix without warranty and up to a month to get back so im just gunna w8 till i get 150 and buy a new used one.
O InstinctZ Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 why not just get 299 and buy the new amazing xbox.
severed arow Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 lmfao are you trying to start a fire lol. shhh don't tell him

d72 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Do NOT play a game to overheat it. I played my Fallout in an overheated xbox and it literally split the disc into two pieces when I shut it off.
I C0NN0R I Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 play a game off the disk ( not installed to HDD), stuff cushions around it, turn a heater on etc, the problem occurs when the fan fails (i.e older models) and the glue holding the motherboard or w/e the fuck it is melts and the board warps. tl;dr - make it overheat.
HADUKEN Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 one that worked for me was play it fora bit, repeatdly press on/off on the front of the xbox, open disk tray repeatdly, pull out from wall few times, etc.
