gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Basically, my computer keeps randomly turning itself off, i've wiped it numerous times, scanned the computer[with AVG].. no threats found or anything, and yet it keeps fucking doing it, does anyone know what it could be? the screen goes black for about 10 seconds, then it turns off. Programmes/websites i use: Chrome browser, and the only sites i go on are: FOE RS YT Google. Programmes i use: Msn Rsbots I don't think it'd be anything to do with the programmes/websites i visit.. idk wtf it is, if anyone knows, help would be appreciated.
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Right okay.. First of all, who the FUCK are you.. Don't come in my endz and call me an idiot when you're a complete fucking newfag, who doesn't know me, and when your post is of no help whatsoever, and when i have done nothing to cause you to call me one. You also need to learn to fucking read, i listed all the programmes and websites i use, did any of them mention torrenting or limewire? Also, learn to not double post. ..Don't bother coming back to Off Topic.. There's not much point for you now.
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 It's a laptop, the whole thing turns off, not just the display, and when i turn it back on, it restores and everything is still open etc, but then sometimes it just crashes again before i can even do anything.. so i have to pull the plug out so that it doesn't try restoring all the stuff i had open again[cause it'd just crash if i kept doing that] >.< All i can think of is that i have a rogue virus or that it's Rsbots, it's only ever done it with Rsbots open, but i've never had problems with Rsbots before :S
severed arow Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 could be overheating, laptops do that allot or a damaged circuit board, software wise, if you using windows, which i hope you are if it was windows related it would say windows has encountered a fatal error and is now restarting, unless you have some rogue virus which is new and so far undetectable... i dont know but it sound more like its your laptop than software
mr d stroy Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 when my comp kept turning it self off i tried mega shit, and it turned out my motherboard was bad. Dunno if that's your case but your laptop's done if so
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 It is getting A LOT hotter, A LOT quicker than normal =/ it might be that, but it seems to be whenever i open Rsbots =/ my computer just crashed just before i made this thread, Rsbots was open, i restart, havn't opened Rsbots and it hasn't crashed yet.. gonna try opening regular scape.. may just be scape in general.. maybe my graphics card is fucked.
Env Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 How long have you had it? Your symptoms match up with a trojan or something similar infecting your computer. I'd run a malwarebytes scan and see what comes up. If nothing else, try restoring your PC to an earlier date. It works sometimes.

I've restored it to factory settings about 5 times in the past month =/ And uhm... i've had the laptop about a year and a half.
Env Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Rapid overheating usually means overuse. Do you bot overnight? That can really fuck up a laptop over time. Hope you got the 2 year warranty. :shifty:
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Nope had a one year warranty.. and yeah i did bot a few nights, i've only just got the bot again so i've only done it a few nights =[ Just opened runescape.. said i needed to download the java plugin for Chrome.. as i've just recently wiped my computer.. as soon as it finishes installing and the rs page starts to load, bam, computer turns off.. Must be to do with my graphics card or something.. :S it's fine untill i open any sort of game.

gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Changed my computer settings to best performance[so all the bars etc are grey rather than modern looking etc] and i'm on scape now and it is yet to crash, times like these i wish i knew about RAM etc.
VxT Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 So it gets hot and turns off? And you lower the settings to use less energy, and it doesn't turn off? Sounds like it's overheating. Get some canned air and blow out the fans, download some free hardware monitor programs and check your temps.
watch me tb Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 a driver or something may be malfunctioning. or possibly getting too hot and shutting down for saftey purposes. do you have a laptop cooler?
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Trouble is though, it turned off instantly when i opened scape when it was on higher settings which leads me to believe it's a graphics issue =/ although i suppose it does use less energy meaning less heat on lower settings so could be that, well, i think maybe after tonight i will leave the laptop off for a few days.. Does having a fan on it actually help the temperature? And no i don't have a laptop cooler, what are they and how can i get one?
VxT Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Sorry, but how long would it take to DL this http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html found out what temps you're getting and then you can stop guessing what it is, and have a little more info.
gfdgfd Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Right, well, thanks for the info, im'a leave it down to overheating then, gonna go out and get a laptop cooler, thanks for all the info guys. locked.
