I see you've already read this topic, but you're confused. I'll help you out a bit :)

If you want to make tags like the one you're using

Then you'll need Photoshop.

There are multiple ways to get Photoshop, as it is a very useful program that is recognized worldwide, with multiple different versions. Personally, I find the older versions a lot easier to use, probably because I'm used to them. However, you can settle for a thirty day risk-free trial of the program at adobe.com/photoshop, which will basically get you started. If you want the free version of the program, however, things get a little tricky.

There are three things you could do in that situation:

One: You shell out the $1500 and buy the software (yes, one thousand five hundred dollars Canadian was how much a computer store near my house was selling CS3 for)

Two: You find somebody that's nice enough to buy you the program (I got mine legit for my birthday :D)

Three: You pirate it, which unfortunately is the most practical route to go as it's pretty much risk-free if you don't be an idiot.

If you're going to take the logical route and pirate the software to get it for free, there are multiple guides and things to do it. To get it, you'll have to go to sites such as Demonoid, Mininova or Isohunt to retrieve a good, well working torrent of the program. There are literally thousands upon thousands of working torrents out there, so it shouldn't be hard. As it's basically stealing, I'm not authorized to tell you exactly how to get it for free, however there are multiple other people that would be more than willing to give you a helping hand.

Once you have Photoshop, then you can proceed to go back to the topic that was posted, as it may start to make sense a bit more. However, before doing anything professional, if it's your first time it's best to just fool around with the tools; use things around the tool to get a good feel for it and to kind of recognize where everything is. Once you've got a good recognition of some of the more important stuff, you're basically good to go! Everything else you'll need can be viewed within the topic you found confusing.

There are multiple other programs out there that you can use as wel, such as Paint.net and GIMP, however the best and the most highly recommended by me and possibly every other graphics artist out there would be to use Photoshop.

MSPaint that people above like Cholesterol were referring to is just the basic Microsoft Paint that comes with Windows. In Windows XP and below, if you go to your Start bar, go to All Programs > Accessories > Paint, and you're good to go. Although it's a very simple program, some of the stuff that people make can be incredible. Take my signature for example, everything besides the .gif of the clowns was done in paint by the gfx artist Connor, who happens to be very good with the program. Cholesterol is not bad at it either. If you have any questions about MSPaint, I'd definitely talk to Cholesterol or Connor, however Connor's kind of banned at the moment lol.

I hope I answered whatever questions you had, and if you have any more please don't hesitate to ask away either here or in a PM; I'll be more than glad to help you out.

good luck! :nice:
