Considering the fact that a DDoS is a distributed denial of service, you'd need either a community of people to carry it out or a decent sized bot net. Either way, anyone with this kind of power behind them isn't going to be outright asking for your IP through the Runescape chat system.

That information is incredibly easy to get if you visit a website, however. Even this forum has a log of every single IP you've used whilst browsing it. I suggest people who're worried about having this sort of thing happen simply browse whilst running a proxy. Although this kind of thing won't help you if you decide to go around doing some illegal stuff, it'll turn off any non-government persons.

I'm still dubious about whether anyone in the Runescape community really has the time to set up a bot net or is willing to spend the cash to rent one out simply to DDoS random people on the game.

If he has anything it's simply a copy of the LOIC. He's probably trying to make out like he's some master hacker when in fact he's just some script kiddy who knows how to download an open-source project and run a pathetic little DoS attack.

He should be pitied.
