Terrible internet speed

For the past year, my internet connection has been completely garbage. Yet lately, it doesn't connect to anything at all. It's gotten to the point where I've yelled at my ISP, because their customer service is fucking terrible. So I was wondering, can anyone help diagnose why my internet is being so goddamn fucking slow? Thanks :S

Holy shit, can't really think of anything, other than the ISP just sucking monkey dick, either that or your computer has a virus which is using your internet connection to feed information - probably doesn't work like that but IDK, maybe change ISP?

Hey... I'm in Toronto too :D

I use Rogers and I think it's at least better than what you have right now...

Don't understand all of this that much  :unsure2:

that is not really true because when I lived in the middle of nowhere I had 1 mbps for my speed, which was 600 km north of winnipeg. Now im in winnipeg and im getting 100 - 150k which sucks major ass, yet i can upload at a speed of 160k (LOL THROTTLELING).

See if some one else is on your network (if it's wireles). also, if you have DSL it SHOULDN'T matter if your neighbors are whoring bandwidth with torrents, but with cable if they be whoring some bandwidths, then you get a slow connection. Call them and demand a recuded cost or just bitch tehm out continuously. I find that works well for me. also, run a tracert on your IP and see how many servers it is connected to. If your connected to like a fuck ton of servers then that might be why its a little slow.

It seriously affects everything in my house that uses the internet, like it's not my computer alone that's having the problem.

Joseph, is there any specific link to a tracert that works well? I don't know what's a good link or whatever :s
