David Cameron: BRITS ONLY

In America they raise it a little every year without giving you notice. My tuition jumped about $1200 this year, yet scholarship did not increase, so the full scholarship I received last year no longer covers everything.

For the people comparing this to poverty in Africa, that is silly logic. Nobody disputes that those problems are more life-threatening than raising tuition, but that does not erase every other problem in the world. The way you solve problems is through education. An educated public will be able to analyze problems and find solutions.

I'm not sure if it's the same in America, but here every Tom, Dick & Harry goes to university, most study courses like 'drama' or 'Roman Poetry', spend the thousands the government provide on vodka and weed, leave university and work in McDonald's.

This isn't going to effect going to effect anyone, you don't even pay off the loans until you leave university, so if you're a bank manager, or you're a housewife, university is still available.

I wasn't comparing it to Africa, I'm just stating, there were thousands marching through London like 'BBAAAWWW I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY EDUCATION I'M SO DEPRIVED'.

Quit complaining. While rising tuition costs can be problematic, it isn't the end of the world.

I agree with Jim. I don't know too much about the education system in the UK, but if it's true that every commoner goes to Uni just to mess around, then I agree it's time to get cereal.

College isn't for everybody. There are other alternatives. Sure a degree is nice and dandy, but it can only take you so far, especially if you get a degree in something nonsensical. Determination, respect, hard work, and perseverance triumph over a college education.

I don't doubt that the system is different in the UK, and I admittedly haven't followed the situation very closely, but it is easy to generalize. I'm sure there are a number of people who do what you say, but I doubt it is that prevalent. Even if it were, there are probably more effective ways to handle the problem. Whether it is requiring completion of a number of credits, maintaining grades, or sticking to certain majors. Raising tuition country-wide seems like the worst possible solution.
