Adam|Note Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Thought people could give ideas on how extreme problems that we have on Earth could be solved and discussed. I'll give an example for any slow people. Websites like savethechildren.org supposedly receive an average of $556,300,000 (source GiveWell) in donations yearly to help give children in poverty a better future and potentially life saving medicine, food & water. There are around 307,006,550 in the United States (source U.S. Census Bureau, Population Division). Let's say that around 200,000,000 people are able to spare $5 each month: 200,000,000 x $60 = $12,000,000,000 which for people able to spare the money is like giving up two or three starbucks a month. This would drastically change third world countries if done by one country. Imagine the result if several countries did it. inb4 "herp derp i like starbucks", "why should i help n*ggers" and so on.
Adam|Note Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 Wait, are you implying that more than 66% of the US population spends roughly $5 at Starbucks on a daily basis? Month, starbucks was just an example of how little the sacrifice would be. It could be coke, fast food etc.
Ikz Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 if you think americans are willing to give up fast food to help other people think again
d72 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Yeah, I misread what you typed lol, I kind of skimmed over it and saw 200,000,000, $5, and Starbucks in the same sentence and went woah, hold on a sec It's a good way to begin ending world hunger, yeah, but honestly the multiple equations and theories all develop around initiative... And honestly, in today's society, economy, and everything else, there just is not enough initiative from the general public to help those who are deemed in the "third world"
Smush Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 That's a big IF. People are selfish. I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people here on this very forum have even donated any sort of monetary or time to these people. I may not have money to give, but I do give my time to help those who are less fortunate. Their gratitude and appreciation is all the reward I need. But what you said about the $5 or something around that area, it's all because of GREED. The people who run those "non profit" organizations leech that money too. I also wonder how easy it would be to end world hunger.
Marc|Criti Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Giving food is only delaying the problem. We, or they, have to find long lasting solutions. Then I'll be willing to give 5 $ to help achieving those.
gfdgfd Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 why should i help n*ggers No but in all seriousness, you're right, problems like poverty could EASILY be solved, i'm sure a majority of the working world could afford $5 a month, but it's a case of selfishness, most people don't care about people they don't know unfortunately.
Mikey` Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 america needs to solve their problems first, aka our 13 trillion dollar debt or something like that, or we're gonna end up just like them.
Flex Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 if you think americans are willing to give up fast food to help other people think again his right :D
Marc|Criti Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 if you think americans are willing to give up fast food to help other people think again fixed
Tango_Oscar Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 There will always be a problem with the world. I hate to be harsh, but they breed like fuck, if there wasnt such a high infant mortality rate, then there would be overpopulation. Overpopulation is already of great concern.
I C0NN0R I Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 if you think americans are willing to give up fast food to help other people think again that just made me laugh out loud uncontrollably.
Octavarium Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 if every professional football player/sportsman donate their week's pay to some charity.
Adam|Note Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 if every professional football player/sportsman donate their week's pay to some charity. It's a shame soldiers receive a salary yearly a football player can earn in a week. :\
Octavarium Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 yes and Michael Schumacher got paid £50m a year. To put that in perspective, Wayne Rooner is on £250k a week? That's 13.1m a year. :O
Smush Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 C'est la vie. It sucks .. but what are we to do? If I ever become rich and e-famous, I'll donate a certain percentage of money. edit: And GTFO about the US not giving aid. We give the most aid out of ANY country. We are the MOST giving. BY FAR. No other country is even close to the level of charity that we give.
Sam|Stop Lying Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 All the over 1b rich people irl need to just donate like half their money to help this shit, not like they're going to use it anyways...
FearMy Def Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 QhuHrjJAuL4 u know why she sang to the left? coz black people have no rights :omg:
Zz Nektas Zz Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 there only live 7 billion people on earth lol but by the way i dont donate my my the manangers will put the money in their own hands and it will dissapear. When i see some needs drink or water ill buy it for him or even if he asking for it , but if it is a junk who is using drugs then i wont spend my money on him.
RxBandit Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Abolish the Federal Reserve. Kill the bush family. Legalize weed.
Jon Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I went with a charity for a week to small villages and handed out clothes and essentials to kids in orphanages. It's funny cause I'm sure majority of the people on this forum have never been to a poor country and actually witnessed the starvation and lifestyle they have to deal with. All of you are drinking your 2L coke bottles or spending hundreds of dollars a year on your work out shit. Instead of taking your daily run to McDonalds for it's 1 dollar drinks all summer, give that dollar to charity, you could end up saving someones life.
Benny The Leak LMAO Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 The thing is, the African government wont allow even half that money to go to the people. The african governments are selfish, greedy and in-humane. We cant really do anything until they adopt western goverments and systems and stop shagging like bunnies spreading aids around. Until then they are stuck on their 3 grains of rice a day unfortunately =< No matter how much money we give African/Indian Slums will never get out of the rut they are in until the RUF rebels and the Government forces stop being so cruel towards their own countrymen.
