Unless consuming LOADS of natural nutrients, supplements are pretty much a necessity when it comes to maintaining/gaining muscle at a decent rate.

I have tried more or less every type but I want to know what supplements you have used and if you made the desired improvements. Include the brand if you can remember.

If you don't know, supplements are things like, protein shakes, testosterone boosters, creatine etc.

I'm taking weight gain & muscle gain at the moment and it's just some random one I picked up from Holland & Barrett cause I need to bulk up abit before I start trying to get ripped.

Also I heard creatine is horrible as when you stop taking it, it fucks you up.

Holland & Barret's protein is extremely shit was it "Body Fortress"?. Always read the ingredients and compare it to more poppular brands like maximuscle etc.

And no, there are shit over-exagerations with most supplements. Most either depend on the brand/type (read reviews), or the side-effects are rare. However, your body naturally produces creatine for that extra, some people don't need to consume more of it. Most do.

Feel free to give me a list of decent ones to save me hours looking & Do you take Creatine?

I take a brand of protein called PHD. Good amount of protein and carbs. Also contains creatine, so pre-workout shake is obv usefull aswell as post-workout. Alot of protein brands like this one are just as good as their rivals, but I promise you that this one tastes 10x better.

For creatine I tend to do cycles of a month on then a week or 2 off.

I only used one supplement, cause I wasn't really focusing on gaining mass.

I used Muscle Milk Whey Protein. Tastes purty good, but other than that, didn't see a noticeable difference except I gained around 10-15 lbs over the course of 2 months.

Wasn't really consistent in using it either.

I heard Creatine was bad for you. I heard it was just water weight, and you would gain unnecessary weight. That's just me doe.

Haha, Im old school. I don't take no supplements. But I was blessed with a good body to train. All that stuff is just for companies to make money.

Same here ;p

But I've heard this powder called phd is good for rapid muscle building, you mix it with milk obviously but dunno wether I should use it, might not be recommened for -18 year olds. Meh prolly won't use it tho, rather get rip while maintaining my usual foods/drink consumption.

Friend of mine gave me half a container of NO-Xlode, did nothing as a pre-trainer.. And some NO Shotgun. Total waste of money IMO.

ON Gold standard Whey

Cell Mass - post workout.

May just keep the protein and start cycling the creatine as you do. Any creatine mono is fine, no matter the brand etc.

How do you take your creatine? When I was taking some a while back I would just use straight water and the powder would literally stick to the glass and it was so shit because I was chewing powder pretty much.

I heard take it with grape juice or anything non-acidic so I did and I still had the powder problem.

Get the right stuff, and you'll gain muscle faster...

when you work out, you tear your muscle's, protein is then needed to fill in that which is torn.

SO if you take protein sups, you can build muscle fast... pretty simple.

The best stuff to get, is anything vanilla flavor. Use that powder with milk, ice, frozen fruits in a blender. Adjust the amounts of stuff used, to ensure the consistency you want. so your pretty much making protein shakes, i used to make them in the morning, wait a bout an hour, then go work out. I was energized beyond what i would feel like usually, and i gained muscle like a mad man.

@0BR - ever tried any tablet form creatine? still mono, just alot easier to take, but some people disagree that its as good.

@Ollie -

maximuscle - http://www.maximuscle.com/?gclid=CNrNn6vGy6cCFUEb4QodUw4TEQ (good stuff but your paying for name)

PHD - http://www.phd-supplements.com/synergy.shtml (tastes 10x better than other brands and most types are just as good as the best, protein/carb wise).

When im Bulking:

From Myprotein -

Total Breakfast (when i wake up)

Total Protein (post-workout)

Bednight Extreme (before i go to bed)

Creapure (basic monohydrate)

From Monstersupplements -

Jack3d - Pre workout, its the best you can get.

Multivitamins (IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FROM FRUIT AND VEG)

Cod Liver Oil + Primrose Oil (good for joints)

When Cutting i just use Animal Cuts, use Gold Standard Whey + Casein and take chromium Picolinate tablets.

Steroids are good however i would use the one that suits your needs as there are many different types.

For example if you want a shredded look i would use 'Winny' and if you are looking to bulk up considerably you should use D-bol.

Thinking of getting CNP Whey Protein, what you reckon?

Posted

A ) Maximuscle Progain OR Maximuscle Progain Extreme?

B ) Maximuscle Promax OR Maximuscle Promax Extreme?

I was thinking of getting 1 from A ) and one from B ) but how do you know which one to get, wtf is the difference between Extreme and normal, and which would you recommend?

Maximuscle is good but overpriced for what is it, you pay for the brand name.

You have to ask yourself a few things when choosing a 'protein shake':

1) Do you care about taste/mixability

2) Do you care about price

3) What are your goals - Building Serious Mass

                                    - Gaining Lean Mass or cutting (losing fat)

From personal experience, PHD is the nicest tasting (i recommended to chris and he thinks its nice), Myprotein.com is the cheapest and depending on what your goal is you can take a variety of products from each brand.

yep as i said ur paying for the name but if you insist on maximuscle i'd go for progain or cyclone because i know your fairly scrawny atm. maybe switch to extreme if you don't quite get the gains your looking for.

but remember, its only a supplement, not a meal replacement.
