Jim Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 As today brings the death of Nate Dogg with it, I've decided to make a general tribute thread. Keep any musical-deaths with-in this thread. As for Nate; Not usually one to care for celebrity deaths, but this dude brought me up. Grew up on this shit from a real young age as my parents were massive fans. Gotta admit I've welled-up a fair bit this morning. I'm not a religious man in the slightest, but the thought of Nate and Tupac chillin' in a third-dimention spitting lyrics and getting high is beautiful. Last night I was telling my mate about Nate's strokes he has had in the past few years, expecting him to know. We both agreed he probably wasn't going to sing again and had a mini-tribute to him, played a few of his tunes and discussed how we grew up on him, listening to him on Dr Dre - 2001 and such, and how the outro in Next Episode is probably what got us smoking weed in the first place. I woke up this morning, looked on Twitter and realized he was dead. I'm not one to preach 'Hip-hop dead', but this does mark the begin of the end for that particular breed.
Berniej Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Damn, you said that nicely man. 'I'm not one to preach 'Hip-hop dead', but this does mark the begin of the end for that particular breed.' I definitely stand by that case. You know what sucks, you'll probably never see another Still Dre or Gin 'n Juice or w/e ( just quickly thought of some :p ). That old school style that Nate and Tupac you'll never see again I think. To be honest, nowadays I still listen more to the old school shit then the shit brought out lately. Funny I was thinking about Tupac and Nate chillin' to . R.I.P. Nate Dogg
