Incorruptibles?

I was shown this video recently in my philosophy class and it shocked me.

It's about the incorruptible saints. Watch the video then tell me what you think cause I have yet to find reputable source to debunk this.

I've been a RC all my life and I have never heard of this until now. I think it's more fascinating than the Shroud of Turin.

Opinions? I know there are a lot of atheists in this forum so I just want some of their opinions/thoughts/reactions etc.

I can't embed for some reason, oh well.

Some info ..

"Incorruptibility is the property of a body that does not decompose after death. Such a body is sometimes referred to as incorrupt or incorruptible (adjective) or as an incorruptible (noun). Incorruptibility is seen as distinct form of preservation, it is not mummification in any respect."

"It is important to note that incorruptibility is distinct from natural mummification, which may happen to a corpse in a bog setting, for example. Also, a corpse that has undergone any type of embalming may not be designated as incorruptible. Genuine Incorruptibility is not caused by unusual soil types, temperatures, or other conditions of the burial. In fact Incorruptibility has been seen in individuals prior to burial and in bodies never buried. Some Incorruptible bodies were buried and exhumed next to corpses that decayed normally, and others had clothes that decayed while the body remained intact."

I don't believe it's legit without tampering. Either that or the scientists they found to test the cause were incompetent. Of course christfags are instantly going to go "it was the work of god/christ" etc. There are probably just as many cases of this in non-"saints".

You could've gotten your point across without sounding like a douche, but I guess that's your style.

Yeah that could be possible, but how come we always hear of bodies smelling disgusting after just only a couple of hours? I think it's incredible that some of these bodies have stayed this way, miracle or not, it's baffling a lot of scientists.

If you chose to take it as an insult that's your problem.

If you think I took it as an insult then that's your opinion. I never said anything about insults, please reread the quote. Thanks.

Yeah I know. It doesn't matter if you believe in a religion or not, this stuff is fascinating.

I mean there are some theories and explanations out there, but no conclusive evidence that explains how this exactly happened.

Miracle or not, I'm surprised I've never heard of it until now.

if you think i sound like a douche for stating my opinion you obviously took it offensively or you wouldn't have bothered quoting me.

Lol I never quoted what you said originally, please reread once again (I think you have trouble with this). I'm not going to continue this any further, if you have anything relevant to the discussion then by all means say it, but if you're going to keep going on this charade then I won't even bother responding.

It's defiantly a phenomenon. But just because these bodies didn't decompose, doesn't change my view about religion or Christianity at all. I'm still an Atheist.

If scientist's cant rationalize it, i'm not even going to try.

Pretty sure I learnt something like this in History about the same thing being done to a Russian prime minister/tsar and every few months they'd bathe the body in chemicals to keep it from rotting. Not got the time to relook it up now so i'll post again later.

Been reading around a bit. My conclusion is that a number of these have been embalmed like St. Margaret of Cortona and just never recorded. As for the remainder, it would appear that they have simply gone through a much slower decomposition than normal, but this is not so far fetched as their are instances where bodies can be preserved to look almost humanlike, such as mummification and adipocere. There have been other cases of incorrupted bodies from non catholics and I wouldn't be surprised if there were many more that will never be discovered since we don't just go around diggin up random peoples' graves. The catholic church has a history of hoax and with all the relic bullshit they put out, I have extreme doubts about the legitimacy of all of this.
