I don't like following strict plans that tell you exactly what to eat every day, so what are some basic guidelines to follow? Foods to stick with/stay away from? Here's roughly what my diet looks like right now:

Breakfast - Protein shake with strawberries/banana/skim milk

Snack - Protein bar

Lunch - Salad with ham/turkey/tomatoes/avocados/cheese/low fat ranch

Snack - String cheese

Dinner - Chicken breast with wild rice and a large serving of vegetables

Snack - Protein shake about an hour before I go to bed

Supplements - I take a 6 pill multivitamin in the morning with breakfast and then mix a recovery drink of grape juice and protein powder after my workout. I also try to drink at least 64oz of water each day.

Just looking for some opinions on how to eat, especially during intense training. Craving some more variety right now. I also need to put on some more weight really.

I haven't been eating snacks but here is my diet so far.

B - Shake, eggs, ham, toast or bagel

L - MEAT or pasta or sandwich (tri-tip sandwiches-mmmmm. 1lb+ of tri-tip)

D - Above^

After workout 11PM - Meat.

I take a few supplements and try to drink a gallon of water a day.

fish contains a good amount of lean protein and essential fatty acids.

you dont have any of it in your diet. try having a tuna sandwhich at lunch some days or a fish dinner etc. also make sure u are having wholemeal bread/rice/pasta.

also Acclaimed|Jordan, 3 meals isn't enough. when bulking, which you are, 5-7 meals are often consumed. are you getting 500-1k calories over ur recommended daily amount with those 3 meals? doubt it.

Wholemeal is just like whole wheat, right?

What's so good about wholemeal? I thought the only main benefit was the high fibre?

I rarely have wholemeal pasta/rice/bread in my diet :s

eggs or oatmeal for breakfast.

Make the sacrifice and get up early.

And get into the habit of counting your calories!

For like everything? So I would have to measure out all my food?

Yeah I need to get this down. It is pretty hard with my schedule though so I stuff my face each meal and make sure it is over 1K calories.

Prepare all your food the night before, its alot easier than doing it in the morning when you're rushed and hate mornings like me

I am unhealthy but my body gets from to skiny to better. I workout hard and eat lots of fast food. Eat grit and drink milk daily. Plus one proper meal a day

Make sure to explore your options and change that up a bit at least one thing per day. You will get sick of it, and go off it.

Try some different salads, snacks or even combo's to ensure you stay 100% committted.
