Emily Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Background Information: With the return of Free Trade and the lovely wilderness many intelligent people have started to scam & keylog many members in runescape through false emails. A keylogger is a program/application thats sole purpose is to steal your credentials (your passwords). By staying safe, and double checking links before clicking them, you can potentially keep your account safety higher. It looks like this; This image is very convincing, isn't it? It has; - From Jagex Ltd - It has a runescape link But after further investigation you will find that this in fact is a key logging site. To get the above image, you simply hover (DO NO CLICK) the link, the actual website link will appear in a gray bar in the bottom left side hand of your screen. runescoqe does not equal runescape. They want you to have the reaction that most people have which is, "oh shit which infraction did I receive" or "What evidence do they have?", clicks the link, signs into their account (on the keylogging site), and wam your account gets hacked very very soon. Don't fall to the cheap and unacceptable ways of deceiving people. Common False Emails: - Infractions - Bans - Confirm Address Change - Password Recoveries - Real World Trading Tip on making sure: Never click a link you get in an email from "Jagex", instead go to http://www.runescape.com and sign into your account their. This is truly the only safe way to make sure that the email is legit. Have any questions and you can Pm me, if you think your infected with a keylogger I can help as well.

Jessica Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Yes, there were some people who got ahold of peoples' email addresses and passwords to these forums and were using them to hack their accounts and send phishing links to their email. This is why it is important to change your password to the forums regularly, and don't click on anything unless you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN it's safe.
