Converse at the gym....

There's nothing wrong with that

They provide no protection for the foot. use crosstrainers or something. Im sick to fuck of seeing people in fashion footwear especially plimmies trying to squat. I hope they break an ankle

Shut up please. It's better to lift in flat soled shoes, especially when preforming deadlifts and squats.

The closest thing to bare foot-like shoes are either those crossfitfaggytime shoes Vibram 5 Fingers, wrestling shoes or converse.

Some gyms don't let you go barefoot, like my gym.. so i choose converse.

The whole point of wearing converse is because they are an alternative to buying actual lifting shoes which could be a tad bit expensive. Converse are an efficient and rather inexpensive shoe to wear for lifters. They are flat and have a no compressible sole which allows for an easier transfer of energy than if you were to wear standard running shoes that most people wear to the gym.
