I got bored so I decided i'd give (basic) animation a shot, is there anything I should do/could do to improve this? I was thinking of adding "Note" somewhere in the image, is there anyway so that "Note" would appear as the lightning does creating an effect as if the lightning is reflecting off the text?

Cheers in advance.

i assume this is in photoshop right? if so it looks like you used a frame by frame timeline. Use the motion tween timeline instead, it looks really choppy.

Also make the document height less.

photoshop is good,

does your timeline look like this?

if not click that icon in the bottom right.

use keyframes to animate not frame by frame.

so for example you could make a levels adjustment layer, which you'd animate to go from no highlight value, to normal highlight value, with an increase in contrast, or w/e. having a keyframe for the start and the end, then it would render a smooth transition.
