Tris Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 What's the easiest/quickest yet most accurate way to work out one's bf%? I haven't seen any machines around my area which do it for you and I dunno about these online methods. Secondly can you trust websites with their BMI calculations? I've gotten a variety of results from different websites. Should I even care about BMI? Started at 91.6kg/201.5 pounds, down to 84.5kg/185.9 lbs at 5'11 in 2.5-3 weeks of eating healthy and going gym 4 times a week. Did however have 3-4 bad meals in between (temptation man, need to resist). I'm guessing my bf% is at least 20% (no idea on it) so I'm probably aim for around 78g/171.6 lbs or something around there. Should probably sign up to muscle and strength.
Tango_Oscar Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 BMI (Body mass index) is easy to work out. BMI = Weight in kg / height in metres ^2 To work out your bf % there are formulae out there to work it out, but they aint accurate. Using these machines which send miniscule electric shocks into your body and measure the resistance you can measure your bodyfat percentage. This isnt as accurate as using calipers. Just type in bodyfat calipers into google or something
Berniej Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Is Bf% THAT important? I mean if you look at your body, you can pretty much figure out if u need to lose weight or gain weight. I'm a noob I know, just wondering.
Beastdefire Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Buy a bf caliper from amazon or bodybuilding.com. Usually, you need to be around ~10% or a little more to see abs.

There's like a 2-4% margin of error where as other methods are upwards of 10%
Kofte Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Calipers are most accurate but just show a pic and some of us can give you a rough estimate
Steroids Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 the most accurate measurement requires you to be in a laboratory for hours and costs loads of money lol. callipers work fine, make sure you research on the correct places to take the reading from. don't aim for under 10%.
Adolesc3nt Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I tested mine the other day with my friend's calipers. It was 7%, I'm pretty sure that's unhealthy?
Steroids Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 lies, eat 5k calories a day, loads of carbs, then tell me tht.
