Steroids Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 without my parents being so encouraging i would never be at the stage i'm at atm. we do our weekly shop on the internet and they always let me order shit loads of different and moderately expensive meats etc, and never been too worried about all the various supplements that i have used, (after my detailed explanations). however, some of my m8s that still live with their parents just get ridiuclously controlled and judged. they moan that they are eating too much, spending too much time in the gym, too many un-needed supplements, addicted to workout out, etc. so JW, what are your parents like and do you think its hindered your progression? not really talking to the once a week gym go'ers lol.
I Meleed I Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Living with my parents whilst being home from university. Definitely hindering my progress because we're a pretty poor family, my parents can't really afford to stockpile lean meats and shit. Resorted to having to go out and buy my own diet myself. They've recently started to admire our progress though (more my mum who desires weight loss),(my dad calls be a faggot) - so they've recently started getting more whole grains in the house. Still finding it hard to meet my protein requirement. Gonna need to buy some more whey! Besides that, I can't wait to get back to university :(. It's great that your parents encourage you like they do though. Hopefully mine will take more of an interest in fitness in time lol.
Tango_Oscar Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 My mum buys all the stuff for me, shes shit and doesnt get enough, i end up buying loads myself My dad buys all the stuff for me, and gets fucking loads of chicken etc. My mum and dad both did weight training, and my mum used to compete (in the fitness section, not a tank haha), my dad at 5 ft 10 weighed 15 stone of pure bulk. They are both too old school though, and think you dont need creatine or anything. I'd dread to tell them what im on. My mum + dad have taught me everything i know (dad how to get big, mum how to cut). But i do think theyre starting to hinder my progress.
Tris Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Family eats really unhealthy most of the time, lots of take outs and rubbish so they're proud of me for sticking with my program for a few months now. They do get annoyed when I'm not willing to eat what they bring home or make but they are starting to understand that I'm serious about it. I've had an on and off influence on my parents and both of them are starting to choose healthier meals, go exercise more but they don't seem to stick with it. Both my mum and dad are willing to buy the healthy food range from the store but I end up eating it mostly as my sisters are really fussy when it comes to eating, fine with me. Talked to them about supplements recently and they're not keen on me using them or spending money on them. However I'm moving out reasonably soon into a house with a few mates so anything will go and everyone is pretty into the idea of gym and healthy eating. As to doing it on student budget with a part time job we shall have to see.
Env Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 My parents are glad that I'm more focused on my fitness now, but they don't really like buying me supps. My dad used to lift and he goes to the gym with me and spots me. They're usually supportive of whatever I do, so it's definitely helped me in my progression.
Little Guy Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 They eat unhealthy, they don't get why I do it and when I ordered whey I wasn't home when it arrived, my mother opened it and thought I was apart of some ilegal drugs testing till I show her what whey was really but she thought they just changed the label and made me get some clinical tests. Doctor ended up saying it was really just whey but she canceled my credit card for web operations so no more supplements purchasing, at least, on the web. Also, she found some pictures of me without a shirt on and she thought I was selling myself out on the web. ^This is real, I know it may sound some made up shit, but sadly, it is very real.
Smush Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Lol since I have a few siblings my parents ALWAYS order takeout like McDonalds, KFC, Popeyes, Pizza Hut, we go to buffets once a week. It's too tempting so I eat it all. Neither of my parents really worked out, I was the one to nag them about joining a gym together, and I spot my dad sometimes, but his weights are so low ... My parents don't buy me supplements either, so I don't take them unless I visit a friend's house. I'm still making good gains though. I might start cutting soon though, so bye bye fast food.
Dan| High Rating Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 My parents tend to be encouraging, they like that I eat healthy and work out, they also buy whey for me etc. They often buy a lot of meat aswell, but they also sometimes bring home a load of junk if they cba cooking, now I just tell them not to bring it home for me and ill cook myself some rice/chicken.
Adam|Spakka Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 My parents actually do nothing but moan about the Supplements, and the diet... 'Is that legal?' 'I don't like you taking that' 'I don't want you getting addicted to this...' the list goes on, i can't stand it lol
Little Guy Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Quote Your parents are what I call stupid ^ Don't worry, I have worse adjectives for them. It's funny because they both have a respectful degree and I thought it meant they would have some sort of intelligence, oh well. My dad has a small club of lads who ride their expensive bikes 2 times a week and I see my dad taking his protein bars and nobody questions him...I wonder if he knows what he's taking is not far of what I'm taking.

DeltaPapa Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 My mum eats from like Tesco's Diet or something, so i usually have what she has. However 1/2 days of the week she will be lazy and get takeaways and im like ffs. l have to find something else. Towards supplements, she lets me have it but says they are all fake and a scam. And trying to explain to her that a total Protein is not a scam ect. And how i get enough Creatine from foods as it is ect and it bores me. and Quote My parents actually do nothing but moan about the Supplements, and the diet... 'Is that legal?' 'I don't like you taking that' 'I don't want you getting addicted to this...' the list goes on, i can't stand it lol also sums it up for me Thats about it.
