Every windows program that you can't use on linux, there is an alternate which is better.

Or you use wine which allows you to run windows programs on the linux operating system. It acts as a windows mask.

Much better to partition your hard disc and run both windows and linux especially how linux requires such little space.

it prompts you at boot up, and you should know what you plan on doing when you start your pc. Then you select accordingly. If you happen to be on linux and you really need to use a windows program you just run wine first and problem solved. Literally no effort.

In plain language it does not work on Linux. You're going to have to know a lot of linux to get it to work.

Try running with wine if they're compatible.

Since noone is helping you, I will. I misread some posts, people did help.

Either use xchat or irssi for your irc client. xchat, has a GUI if you really need one(which it sounds like you do) or you can opt for irssi which is completely done in terminal.

Sudo apt-get update

Sudo apt-get install xchat

Or

Sudo apt-get update

Sudo apt-get install irssi

If you opt for irssi, I highly recommend getting the terminal multiplexer known as screen, and learning how to use it. irssi is my preferred client, even if I'm on my windows laptop(where I use virtualbox for it) If you choose irssi, and need help setting up irssi just ask.

The config for irssi is located in ~/.irssi if you want to manually change stuff there.

As for the issue of swiftkit... I've never used anything other than the official rs client, but I'd imagine swiftkit runs in wine.

Edit: Didn't realize this topic got necroed - lock it

what in the fuck I said this like a month ago... STOP STEALING SLY!

And even then it probably won't work, i=swiftkit is programmed in visual basic... BASIC!!! Not only is that a windows language, just by name alone it's the complete opposite of Linux. It also means that the programmers are wank and will therefore not be able to rewrite a version for linux.

Fucking read what I said and lock this.
