MitchH Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Okay, me and a friend started going to the gym a few weeks ago and now we've got our own routines. I'm not going to go into detail but here's what they are and I want you to tell me which you think is best and why if you can: #1- Monday - Chest & Shoulders Wednesday - Biceps & Back Friday - Legs and Triceps Other days - Rest #2- Monday - Upper-body Tuesday - Lower-body Wednesday - Rest Thursday - Lower-body Friday - Upper-boddy Weekend: Rest Thanks in advance if anyone could tell me. I decided to post here because there seems to be a lot of people with experience who're around my age. I know I may seem like a newbie or whatever but I had an account registered in '10 but can't recover it.
Tango_Oscar Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Both shit really, 1st your front delts are gonna be fucked, at least change Back for Chest. 2nd you wont be hitting every muscle hard enough, trying to do every upper body muscle in a session is hard. Saying that, alot of people do HST (hypertrophy specific training) which is kinda the same thing. I'd say for mass building the best is: Monday - Back & Triceps Tuesday - Quads and abs Wednesday - Chest & Biceps Thursday - Rest Friday - Shoulders & Traps Saturday - Hamstrings & Calfs Sunday - Rest This gives each muscle group alot of time to grow, and i think is immense. People will tell you chest & triceps are better to train together because chest already works your triceps, which i found that my triceps were fucked after a heavy chest session. TL;Dr - both have their flaws, for strength i would say first, for size i would say second (depends on what exercises you do and the volume of which you would be doing). What might work for me, might not work for you, there is no best workout.
Steroids Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 na just go get a poppular routine off a well known site that is built for your desired goals. if you cant use your own initiative to find one, tell me your goals and ill do it.

Env Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 why people do biceps with chest will allways phase me also i hate when they do shoulders and traps, when traps are your back lol traps are not back or shoulders
MitchH Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 Thanks Tango, you helped a lot. I wasn't trying to find the best routine ever, I just wanted to know in your opinion would be best out of those but I think I'm going to change my routine to what you said :'). @Steroid - I just wanted to check here because this is a place I know of which seems like it would suitable to ask, otherwise I would've just searched my own routine. I had my routine from my dad who start body-building when he was younger than me and stopped when he was 21 and he got pretty big so I was going by that. And thanks everyone for your help, I'm going to look into it more.
Tango_Oscar Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 why people do biceps with chest will allways phase me also i hate when they do shoulders and traps, when traps are your back lol because after your chest workout, you can hit your biceps hard without them already being fatigued. You obviously havent tried it so you cant comment lol. And shoulders and traps, most people do them together, i guess its just in the shoulder region. I wouldnt train them on a back day because then your missing a minor to hit with your shoulders, i wouldnt do any part of my arms (bi or tris) after shoulders cause my forearms always hurt after doing some sort of lateral raise lol. So it makes sense to match them Mitch, if you need anymore questions answering about workouts or supplements, feel free to message me or chris (pig-steroids) :)
Steroids Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 why people do biceps with chest will allways phase me also i hate when they do shoulders and traps, when traps are your back lol back generally takes more time to do properly than shoulders, so more time for traps. not many people do traps on back day, people don't associate exercises like shrugs etc with back, for obv reasons they see it as shoulders.
Kofte Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 #2 but it should be: Monday - Upper-body Tuesday - Lower-body Wednesday - Rest Thursday - Upper-body Friday - Lower-body Weekend: Rest I like the frequency and volume of upper/lower

Tom (Rendition) Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I do chest + Tri's Back + bi's Legs + shoulders Works well. Most chest exercises work on triceps. Most back exercises work on biceps. So it seems to be the logical pairup.
