Parallel Universe

After watching TV shows like Lost and movies like Source Code, I began to think of parallel universes or multiverses.

So I started doing some research, looking through university documents, scientific findings and was appalled that astronomical observations support the idea of parallel universes. It's some DEEEEEEP stuff to think about.

Thus one can imagine an infinite number of inhabited planets, which "have people with the same appearance, name and memories as you, who play out every permutation of your life choices."

It's crazy to think that there could be version of us playing out each of our choices in life, life choices that could radically change the way our life went. Or a world without my existence, what would it be like? Or how history played out, had the British Empire kept going, or the Nazis won, or the Americans lost the revolution, or if 9/11 never occurred, just think about it is overwhelming, but also extremely interesting.

Thoughts? Do you think there's a possibility? Or is it a bunch of BS?

One of those questions that I can't see being answered in out lifetime. I'd like to think that it's true.

If it is discovered best believe i'm going Jet Li on all the other me's out there. I WILL BE THE ONE!

One of those theories that new scientists can have confidence in believing because it will never be proven, its also a load of bollocks lol one of the worst most pointless theories

i'll go through those then, i know a bit about quantum physics but it should take me some time since it's in english >.<

Along with quantum physics, I suggest you check out string theory (M theory) if you want your mind blown. The math calls for an infinite number of parallel, flat universes, which can be connected by wormholes. It is theorized that a collision between these oscillating membranes could supply the matter and energy necessary for a big bang, or wipe out an existing universe.

Obviously it is very difficult to test for anything like this empirically. Attempts are being made to observe super symmetry using the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), which would verify the modern model of quantum physics. At first there was promise, but recent results indicate that it may not exist, which would greatly alter our perception of the universe.

We live in an exciting time.

Shelly, is that you!?

Hurts my brain to think about it. I don't think there are multiple universes and I am not quite sure how one can prove there are/arn't so until then I will just keep my head in the sand.

Yeah, I started reading about string theory and my mind was blown even though most of the text wasn't in layman speak. If only I could find a blackhole and enter just at the right time and go back in time. But would that create an entire parallel universe? Or would that go back in time in just one universe?

It's crazy to think about.

Scientists think they found a molecule which can move faster than light. This could theoritically allow us to fly through time going back and forth a bit, this is off topic but could be of use in this IDK.

That's what the link was about posted above ... so in theory now we can travel faster.
