serious question

tomorrow i start up the gym again

i'm no where near an expert in any of this so i was wondering if a few questions could be answered in terms of my specific body type

as of right now i weigh about 260-270 pounds, and im about 6'1

since i haven't always been overweight and physically inactive, i still have some remnants of a healthy body,

  • calfs are still pretty muscular and i don't have kankles
  • arms are alright, still decently muscular

blah blah, but basically my main questions are

1. would it be smarter to just lose a lot of weight first, become a lot smalller and generally just be more healthy, then work on becoming musuclar, or should i instantly go from where i am and just try to get big from where i stand right now

2. i know people constantly post topics in regards to their schedules they've worked out in terms of what they do on which days..they use terms i've not the slightest clue about. basically my plan was just to go everyother day with 3 different schedules each day, any tips in that specific area of a routine of any sort

3. and depending on what i do in regards to question 1 (lose alot of weight then get fit/go from where i am) is there any specific dieting plans anyone found incredibly helpful, because i know that without a set plan where i know exactly of what i can and can't eat my plans will go downhill fast.

anyway thanks for any help given on this topic in advance, probs will be posting a progress thread of pictures weekly for a while eventually when i'm like one month into the gym

2 be fair bro lifting weights is far more taxing than cardio, ur calorific output is higher when lifting, u could do cardio as well if u reaqlly want to but, you will lose fat and gain muscle as a beginner so ur weight will prob stay roughly the same. so dont be dissapointed lol

also looka t training logs section up top, u can find some exercises, research em, tyr em out see if you like em. i have a couple of vids on my log if u want to watch em.

lose the weight first tbh, no need to worry about muscle wastage from low calorie diet / high intensity cardio etc. then you can just bulk / cut cycle for the rest of ur life. might be a good idea to do a nice full body / push-pull routine or something during the weight loss process though, even if its just for strength / form.

browse BB websites and read as many artiticles as u can, diet etc.

This, make sure u do some sort of weight training to retain muscle, dont just do running only

There's no harm in lifting while trying to lose fat, at the end of the day it burns calories, just make sure you do plenty of cardio, I do 20 minutes of cardio 4 days a week along with my sets, and then on thursdays I do an hour of cardio. Just find the right balance and make sure you eat right, cut out all the crap - take outs, 'potato chips', sweets, drink only water.
