DeltaPapa Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Ok basically want to get back into lifting weights again. Been out of it for like 3/4 months because i aint got the stones to go back to the gym and him to ask me where i been for ages; but decided who cares lol. So before i quit i was doing Full body routines, hitting each major muscle part, (legs, biceps, triceps, lats, back, abs, chest - about 2 exercises of each) and thought the results i was seeing was alright for the time i was doing it. Just wondering why do Split routines instead of full body routines. Only reason i can see, is if your going to the gym 4/5 days a week, your body wont recover in time and properly.
Smush Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Splits = Great concentration on muscle groups. Meaning you can go all out on chest instead of being fatigued after squats and deadlifts. I was once in your mindset of doing full body, but I found splits were more effective because I only concentrated on one or two muscle groups instead of being dead tired after working legs/core/shoulders/etc. Full body is good if you don't have time to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. Less fatigue = Greater loads, better improvement. On a side note ... Arnold preferred splits .. #justsayin'
DeltaPapa Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 See that all makes sense. But then your training 1 muscle part a week. I can see how you could do that to keep up the muscle but not build on it. Dunno if im being an idiot, but after 1 week of training, that muscle you built up will just go?
Smush Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Hmm, I see what you're saying, but if you hit your muscles hard on that one day and go all out, you only need to train it once a week. If you feel you need to train it twice a week or more, then you're not putting full effort. Full body is preferred for a beginner though .. I started with full body and developed a base to start with and then moved towards BB splits .. It's all preference.

See thats what i was doing (as i had just started) but iTango and Steroids laughed at me. As i really dont think i can do arms exercises like 5 times in a row no lol^ ty for the imput Adam
Reevesy Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 delta body takes like 72 hours to fully repair minimum. after 2 weeks of doing nothing you then start to lose muscle. 1 week is fine. just train the bodyparts in a split, when u are ready. every forth or 5th day or something
DeltaPapa Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Ok. Il find a good split routine in www.muscleandstrength.com and try it out for a month, and if i cant work a muscle part enough in a session, il do some full body for awhile to get some base strength
Tris Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Maybe start out with a 3 day split; Back/Biceps, Chest/Triceps, Shoulders/Legs. If that's too easy then move onto a 4 day split, I'm thinking of going to a 5 day split since summer is coming up. When I first started out I was doing full body and to be honest I didn't get as much of a burn or sense of progress compared to that of which I get with a split.
Steroids Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 key issue is just that full body ur doing 2 exercises for a large muscle group like back when on a split ull be hitting it with 5+ exercises with 20+ sets and actually working all area's of it.
