I'm pretty sure everyone would choose a quick death over a painful one. If the world is to end by a comet or what people believe is "Planet X/Nibiru" scientists have said that the light coming off it alone will blind people looking at it from a certain distance, and the heat would cause instant death to people even closer. So if you're on the other side of the world expect slow and painful. This is of course all speculation, something that will happen however is the Asteroid Apophis. It's gonna fly past in 2029 and depending on how our atmosphere effects It's course scientists believe It could cause it to swing back around in 2036 and collide with the Earth.
