	Vin Diesel says the "Fast and Furious" franchise is revving into high gear, with two new installments that are being worked on at the same time.


	The news comes just weeks after Universal officially green-lit the sixth installment, which picks up the with the cliffhanger at the end of 2010's "Fast Five." But there was just too much story to fit in just one movie, Diesel told the Hollywood Reporter.

	“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space,” the actor, who is also a producer on the series, told the the trade publication.

	The franchise, which also stars Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez, was reinvigorated by a change in genre from car movie to a heist thriller and the addition of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to the cast as a U.S. Marshal hot on the trail of Diesel's misunderstood car thief.

	“We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages,” Diesel told The Hollywood Reporter. “The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’"

	Diesel is likely hoping that two films will double the profits.

	‘Fast Five’ earned $626 million worldwide.
