Chris Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) Here is the question: http://gyazo.com/8070f4480a663c16acff497fddb8e31d I understand everything except the last bit where they manage to somehow create co-ordinates out of nowhere. Please let me know if you can help, all possible explanations welcome! Edited April 14, 2012 by Chris

Chris Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Never mind I'm a derp and been working too long didn't factor out enough x's silly error!
Chris Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 I was just a bit of an idiot, I understood up until the e^-1/4x(-1/4x^2+2x)=0 but what I was trying to do was factor (-1/4x^2+2x)=0 instead of making it super easy and simply factoring out another x to make the bracket (-1/4x +2)=0 which ofc = 8 then sub for other answers . Brain = tired lool thanks anyways :)

Jon Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Could you not just graph it and find your x intercepts? Wouldn't those be the points where it changes?

dravidv2 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 simple math, find the derivative and then set it equal to 0. the only confusing part is the fact that they use constants p and q whereas it would be much more simpler if they would use the constants that are given from finding the first derivative
Sefket Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Also sefket if your browsing this later on and see this comment, how the fuck do you post puush picture links now?? Put [img] tags before and after the image link. Put .png before the [/img] tag.
