Animal Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Been going to the gym for about 3 weeks now, quite getting into it also still learning about building muscle. One thing that's pissing me off is that i need to bulk up to gain muscle. This is hard in my eyes to maintain when i go to college etc. When you lot go to college or work what do you eat during your available breaks? I just need some ideas of what i could bring to college pre made to eat during my breaks as I'm definitely not eating enough. Is stuff like chicken and rice good? IDK just tell me what you lot eat. Also what portion size's do you reckon i should bring with me? Remember I've just started :P No flame, just trying to get a better understanding :)
Ikz Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 eggs, lean chicken in like anything [rice pasta salad etc], oats, obviously whey protein or regular protein, tuna sandwiches [not white bread obvi], bananas, yogurt, fish, drink a lot of milk and water obvi . basically what i find has worked best for me is eat whenever your hungry whether you're in class and eat until you're satisfied or full, read stories about people who vomit a lot when they start bulking cause they aren't used to eating so much. just stay away from like mcdonalds and you're pretty much good, eat stuff you prepare yourself so you know what ur eating . i had mcdonalds the other day tried eating 2 hours later and couldnt cause the 2qlb'r took too long to digest, never eating there again. i drink 2 or 3 whey shakes a day which gets me about 110g of protein, rest comes from meats and like peanut butter and eggs. just eat a shit ton of good food and you're pretty much good, as long as you're eating consistently. do research on foods that you like eating that are good for you and give yourself portions, i eat between 3 and 4k calories a day, and ive been gaining well. also dont forget ur vitamins. people who are more into the health science part will give u a more detailed description this is just what i came up with at 1:30am

Adam|Spakka Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 peanut butter jelly sandwiches tuna mayo sandwiches i sometimes go through 4litres of whole milk on a break, mixed in with whey. Chicken cheese pasta (Poach chicken, cut it up. in a separate pan,bit of grated cheese and milk, melt and mix to form a smooth sauce, add cooked pasta and chicken, leave to cool, store in fridge) iceland sell pasta in a nice italian sauce 1kg/£1
Tris Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Examples of what I eat: Peanut butter toast or oats for breakfast. - Some form of carbohydrates (pref complex) such as pasta/rice/bread with say tuna and eggs or various lean ground meats for lunch. - Chicken, rice and veg for dinner or steak and potatoes/fries(baked). - Protein shakes twice a day at least whether it be whey or a mix. - Nuts and Greek Yoghurt for snacks. Find out your calorie maintenance level. Eat 500-1000 calories above that; gym 4-5 times a week and you shall see results.
Kody Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 If your skinny you need not worry about how clean you are eating really. to really build muscle ya gotta sacrifice gaining fat. this is my problem as well, i'm usually to busy at work or school to really get food in me. protein shakes save me sometimes. i would take something quick and easy. pbj's are fucking awesome. potatoes, rice, chicken, beef, fish, broccoli, lunch meat, anything really. can't replace food my friend.
ph0ne Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 young arnie pls, you're skinny enough as it is to worry about fat% on the meat, go dig in on beef/chicken ect, carbs is a must 2 so rice/pasta try not to skip meals either
