Here are some facts on the upcoming name changing update confirmed by a Jagex moderator:

- Your Display Name will default to your current account name; you don't have to choose a new one if you don't want to. This also means nobody else can take your account name as a display name, because it's already yours (until you change it, anyway).

- Deleting 'inactive' names (with hindsight, I really should've used a better term): this is aimed at accounts that were created years ago and never even logged in. If you can post on the forums, your name is safe. If you play the game, your name is safe.

- Names will update everywhere: the games, forum, hiscore etc.

- Your friends list will update when a friend changes their name, and also tell you what their old name was for a while.

- If you change your name, your old name is held for some time (based on how long you had that name in the first place) before anyone else could take it. This time is long enough that you can change your mind and go back to it again if you decide you don't like your new name. We can't hold your old name indefinitely otherwise we'd reduce the number of names available, not increase it.

Don't ask me exactly when the update will come. I have no idea. Rumours are that it will be next week.

I wonder if clans will use this to change the name of their members.

Example: all foe having ‘foe_name’ instead of ‘name’

Like Foe_Dave Foe_Walli Foe_Vloo and stuff. Would be nice but easier to get targeted in wildy.

was going to change mine into 'vlo' or 'vloo' or 'vlooie'. after finding out about it being perm change idk anymore. i wouldnt like to see some wannabe fag take my current name :p guess ill stay vlooieneuker.

yeah thats the thing I would definitely not like. Also people constantly changing their name and what not would be stupid 100%. I think there should be a limit on how many times you could change it like maybe max 1-2 times every two months.

Keep it short, my dad plays RS now and then and checks the homepage for news and such more than I do as I rarely read it on RS home and whatnot unless its major so hes the one who told me that there will be name changes.
