Staying in school until 18?

In many countries, school attendance is mandatory for all children up to a specific age. Children often then have the choice of staying on at school for further education and possible preparation for university or college entrance, or leaving to pursue a job or professional training. In India this is 14 years of age: in the UK and many other countries it is 16 but now the law has changed and it is 18. Do you agree with this?

Agree with it for a few reasons. Many people don't know what to do when they are 16, if they don't get the correct grades they can't get into sixth form or colleges and pretty much get dumped, albeit some of these are the kids that just mess about in school. How likely is it for a 16 year old to get a job or a apprentership in the current climate. One of the problems my parents have with it is that the kids that do piss about throughout the time in school can continue to ruin it for the others, I have seen this stop completely during the last year of sixth form, lessons don't get disturbed at all and it's actually a lot nicer community.

Agree with it for a few reasons. Mixed views, on one hand few more years, as school is best years of your life. But on other hand im 18, roofing apprentice been college since 16, one more year and im done Level 3 Nvq roofing. And will be on very good money at 19! Not that not already. but if your 18 and in my position wont pass till 21. also for 2 years unis and colleges, going to have no one in them?

if you genuinely think you can live without education you should have the choice to do so, in the end everyone should have their own opinion and choices. I understand obviously that a 15yr old can't chose whether to go to school or not. Personally I like to chose everything myself so also whether I go to school or not=]. Though I also think if people don't work for their money they shouldn't get money from the government, i'd like everyone to be responsible for their own choices but that's probably dumb aswell for stupid people.

As well as that there was a massive drop in people applying to uni's due to the new costs.

We have too many qualified people who do not want to do these kinds of jobs. Therefor people immigrate to our countries, people who do this work because they still live a better life. And then we all complain about the imigrants
