Olympic Games vs Paralympic Games

Have an assignment for my Sport class in college to write an essay about why the Olympic Games received more coverage than the Paralympic Games during the London 2012 season.

Would be cool if i could get some opinions to include in my essay, so why do you think the Paralympic Games received less media coverage than the Olympic Games?

Discrimination, people look down upon disabled people.

Its only slowly coming into society that disabled people are no different to normal people as the governments are making more things eligible for disabled people to use such as ramps to get into shops etc.

Seems like it isnt fully into society as the tv coverage is not as large as the Olympic games

It's not discrimination or the majority isn't for that reason.

The Olympics are seen as the highest thing you can achieve in sport in a majority of sports. They have been around for so long, the paralympics aren't as popularized as them. It's the pinnacle of sport for many people.

i think paralympics are good because what else can the cripple do so im happy for them because they got an event to do every 4 years its better to do stuff because you can barely do anything if your cripple

Companies care about revenue, not discrimination. They know the money they pay to sponsor the Olympics will be watched, it probably isn't worth it to pay for the lower audience views to pay to sponsor the paralympic games.
