Meerkat Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) As a kid I was never interested in exercise, starting playing games, etc, obviously and put on a bit of weight. I never thought I'd enjoy going to the gym or working out, but after going for around 2-3 months now, between 5 and 6 times a week I've noticed some great changes in my body, namely my strength and I have muscle that I never had before. The only thing is I still have some fat left around my stomach which I really want rid of :P I'm really here just for a bit of advice from you guys, should I start taking protein/creatine, etc, what diet plans could you recommend and workout routines? I'm 22 years old and 70kgs, so 154 pounds I think that is, I used to be around 165-170 before working out. Any advice and feedback is appreciated. inb4somekidstrytrollingandbeingretardswiththeirextrachromosome Edited September 11, 2012 by Meerkat

Kyle Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 ur 70kg? u must be real short and without sounding nasty, you have quite a lot of weight to lose, not just off ur stomach, believe me i know. ive lost about 20kg myself. i was thinking that too lmfao. im 6'1 190-195 atm and you have a lot more bodyfat than i do.as for protein and creatine, you should always be taking these whether cutting or bulking gold standard whey protein creatine monohydrate (there is flavored with cals and unflavored disgusting kind u choose ok) 5-6 days a week is a lot tbh, i'd cut it to 4-5 if i were you and load up on protein those days and keep the carbs down (pref weekend?) my personal diet plan the past 1 1/2 months has been something called 'intermittent fasting' look it up on bodybuilding forums. i've dropped ~10-15 pounds in 1 1/2 months or so, and have improved in the gym (no muscle loss) workout routine here is what i do: 4 workout days, 3 of them i mix in cardio after lifts. one day a week you get as an off day which for me i generally have it because i always have something unavoidable popping up 1 of them days. day 1 legs, day 2 shoulders/back, day 3 chest, day 4 biceps/triceps.

Diederick Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yeah, there's no use for Creatine .. it actually fucks you up when you stop working out. You need to start eating are complex carbs, instead of bad carbs like white rice, white toast .. shit like that. You need to start eating oats, fruits, brown rice, wheat pasta, wheat bread, etc.Take a protein shake every morning too, use WHEY protein. As it's not a weight gainer, it actually helps you slim down. Hope this helps.

ph0ne Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 No need to b upset Dale, just aware the guy Yes he gives tips such as whey, which isn't really needed. It is a great addition only if you get the fundamentals right such as eating properly and consistently m8

Hope this helps. please shut the fuck up. a carbs a carb, there are no good carbs or bad carbs in terms of body composition, go away with your broscience. also creatine is awesome, I like to ingest it anally through a straw or mix it with a scoop of craze and snort it in a line, although I think you're probably right, it'd probs fuck with me when I come off it, I already feel like ripping doors off hinges while i'm on it, can't imagine going cold turkey.. i'd probs go outside and turn every car in my street onto it's roof. OT: be on a caloric deficit, it's as simple as that. the only factor in fat is calories.. it's burnt when your body does not have enough calories to run.. calculate your maintenance and eat under it and you'll shed fat.. in response to should you start using protein and creatine.. protein if you're not getting enough in your diet, yes.. creatine, i'd save for bulking.
Adam|Spakka Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Wouldnt worry out cutting atm. Focus on ur diet, work on getting whole, clean foods, as high protein as u can, low carb n low fat. Just work on becoming a healthier person. The rest will follow
Tris Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Being on a low carb and fat diet does not mean 'healthier' nor do I recommend it. Carbs and fats are essential even on cut. Protein isn't everything; it does help keep you lean and is the main thing on bulk however your body's preferred source of energy is carbohydrates. Fats are needed for hormone production among other things including being a fuel source for the body. Also the concept of complex/simple carbohydrates is out dated, the GI level of carbohydrates is more relevant now days. Let's take a potato for example; classes as a complex carbohydrate, however it is very high on the GI scale. Incorporating the right amount of protein, fats and carbohydrates into one's calorie deficit is more important. Take a look at professionals blogs on what they eat when they cut, the majority of them are not low on carbohydrates or fat diets unless they are preparing for a competition a few days/weeks out, at this point they are at their weakest as well so they're not gonna be lifting heavy. I'm doing a PT course right now, course or two involving nutrition and the lecturers have phds, masters in the field with scientific evidence to back up what they are talking about. The amount of broscience that gets flung around online or information that is outdated is retarded. I could go on. Edited September 12, 2012 by Tris
