Sefket Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Photo credit: Handout | Annie Le was choked to death, the medical examiner said Wednesday, and her body was stuffed behind a wall at the Yale laboratory. Videos NEW HAVEN - Annie Le was choked to death, the Connecticut medical examiner's office said Wednesday. Le, a graduate student at Yale whose body was found in a lab Sunday, died of "traumatic asphyxia due to neck compression," the medical examiner's office said. Le's body was found Sunday stuffed in a wall at the lab. Police have collected DNA samples from lab technician Raymond Clark, named a "person of interest" in the slaying of Le, and released him from custody early Wednesday, police said. New Haven police spokesman Joe Avery said Clark was cooperative. Police executed two search warrants on the Middletown apartment where Clark, 24, lives with his fiancee Jennifer Hromadka, 23. Police collected DNA samples, and a red Ford Mustang neighbors say was used by Clark was towed away. >> Read what Raymond Clark's fiancee had to say about his past relationships >> Click here to see the latest photos of Raymond Clark and his fiancée Jennifer Hromadka, and photos of Annie Le New Haven police chief James Lewis said police were hoping to compare Clark's DNA to more than 150 pieces of evidence collected from the crime scene. That evidence may also be compared with DNA samples from others with access to the crime scene. "We're going to narrow this down," Lewis told The Associated Press. "We're going to do this as quickly as we can." Clark's attorney, David Dworski of Fairfield, declined to comment on Clark's current location. "We're committed to proceeding appropriately with the authorities, with whom we are in regular communication," he said. A resident of Clark's apartment complex, Rick Tarallo, said he, his wife and 6-month-old daughter live in a unit next to Clark and Hromadka. Tarallo said the couple was "really quiet" and lived with an older man, whom he speculated was one of their fathers. "He seemed like a good guy," Tarallo said of Clark. "They didn't strike me as someone who would try to kill somebody." At another apartment in New Haven where Clark had lived with Hromadka until the spring, neighbor Annmarie Goodwin, who lived downstairs, said Tuesday he was "very controlling" toward his girlfriend and shouted at her when she and Goodwin would chat. Goodwin said he also once screamed at her son and unleashed a curse-laden tirade at him.
