k or as i Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 (edited) I done some research in why addicted gamers tend to result in bodybuilding when there time comes (would say age of 17-18 normally). found a good article definately worth spending 5 minuits reading as i know it will not restrict you from anything important: They've been trained to focus for weeks at a time on a single goal. They know how to clearly identify obstacles and form step-by-step plans to overcome them. They're obsessed with improving specific skills but judge success only by overall progress made in the world they've decided to conquer -- as realistic or fantastical as it may be. It's precisely these traits that make video-gamers great bodybuilders. Take a moment to laugh, if you must. Now hear us out. "People don't realize that video games are an expression of personality," Talens said. "There's certain qualities that people have. They're obsessed with improving the stat sheets, getting to the next level; they pay a lot of attention to detail. Guys who play ('World of Warcraft') ... are very intense about whatever they do. They can turn that addiction and all its characteristics into fitness." Still, one has to wonder: What would make a virtual warrior trade in his sword and shield for a pair of dumbbells? The same thing that got him interested in playing video games in the first place, Dr. Scott Rigby says. FOUND THIS PICTURE THAT MADE ME LOL: <-- INB4 teambaconstrip WARLORD PLEASE DO NOT POST VERY SHORT COMMENTS LIKE "K,NICE,OK" FOR A +1 BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE MAKE IT ANNOYING FOR ALLY'S AND GUESTS EVEN OTHER MEMBERS WHEN TRYING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME READING FOE FORUMS, MM DONT DO IT WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT AND THEM. Jonny Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 hrmm interesting to read but I am not sure whether you can turn that addicition straight in to bodybuilding. I work out myself but did not start working out for the same reason as I started playing video games. I started playing video games to escape problems irl and out of boredom. I started working out because I want to stay healthy and be attractive.

Just my theory could be 100% wrong but could make sense Edited November 6, 2012 by k or as i
Jonny Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I am not trying to say I am hot or anything like that but I am good looking. I simply was very very skinny. Now that did not matter when I was 12 and started scaping right? When going clubbing and on partys it does matter. I am quite sure I started scaping because on scape I was able to ignore and not think of irl problems I had with my family. Concerning your basic point I do agree with you but I do not think it fits for me

Marc|Criti Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 This implies that a gamer can get rid of his gaming addiction and focus his ability to become addicted on a physical activity instead of mental one, which is basically a world away from gaming. also. Why bodybuilding and not any other sport? I'd say because there are fast and satisfying results, just like video games. It's quite close if we think about it. The younger generations have become addicted to instant rewards and gamers are just the beginning of it. I think there is a distinction to be made within the "gamers". Some are really lazy, others can spend days working on the same goal, becoming obsessed with whatever they want to achieve. The second category is much smaller than the first IMO. What you describe is just willpower. Every human being has it, but hardcore gamers have developped it much more than the rest of us. So if they manage to focus on bodybuilding, i wouldn't be surprised to see that your theory is true. But once again, the gap between physical activity and moving a computer mouse is huge.

Tango_Oscar Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Agree to a certain extent, subconsciously wanting to be the best pker, to have the best skills or stats, personal goals or whatever (being alpha in a game) relate to being an alpha male in real life. In my opinion there are alot less actual hardcore gamers than there used to be, or it seems that around school you get addicted to gaming and you sort of grow out of it. Alot of it is peer pressure/ subconscious idolisation. For example, back in the old days i think there was only me and chris (steroids) who lifted in foe, now pretty much everybody does, because secretly everybody wants to be that "big muscily alpha male" its built into us from the way we were brought up and therefore are interested in the whole health and fitness section. Im not saying everybody in foe takes bodybuilding/fitness to the level of certain individuals though. Im shit at scape but good at gym so im an exception :)
