My highschool just got two Cintiq 24"HD tablets for our art studio. Took CGA(Computer Gen. Art) for credits and I get to use one every day. Hopefully I can get some shit done and post free-hand work as I haven't touched Photoshop in a while, trying to adjust to Illustrator and it's a pain in the ass to have a Photoshop mindset for completing tasks,

I believe last time I checked they were around $3699 per. I free-hand a bit in spare time but I can't use a screen-less tablet for my life. Went in after class and attempted reproducing some of my old drawing from a few years ago and found it extremely easy. Seeing what you're drawing makes it loads easier.

Oh, and the 2048 different pressure levels work on a gradient scale as well, not just your brush width. So if you were to do light shading, you can colorpick the area, then use really light strokes or harder strokes in order to shade your area or light it. I took concept art from League of Legends and traced it in to try some shading and it turned out pretty well.

If you ever want to get into industry design though, tablets are the standard. More specifically the Cintiq series. Even an Intuos would be a start but if you're looking for one, you're probably better off just saving for one with a touch screen as it's a thousand times better than any one without.
