Yeah if you get netsplit and end up with only 5 or 6 people in the room with you it probably means you are on the server that split off. You can just use the command /server merlin.swiftirc.net or replace merlin with darklike or tripwire... Those servers are probably outdated though, haven't used it in years. Point is it happens every day for the most part, just use that command and get back on a working server, or just wait it out. Also make sure you +b everything in sight before the channels rejoin
