x360 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) If you don't know what the pen tool is in photoshop or how hard it is to use when starting off with don't bother trolling me, it is a difficult tool to use and i am trying to learn it to work on my own toon signatures, everything was done with pen tool first time i really use it. Work in progress Edited March 30, 2013 by x360
Ben Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 That is actually decent mate, adding ur character in after?
Lennu Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Looks okay, i know how hard it is to use this tool. One thing you should work on more are transitions, for example the water/wave looks a bit sketchy. Overall looks nice though.

Yeah I noticed that after i uploaded it, but with a transaction like water i didn't know how to tackle it exactly, i know i need to transaction between shades and what not but the effect of depth of it is something i am going to work on. I like the simplicity, some type would be nice Thanks mortuls
Chile Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Better than my first time, just keep going at it and you'll get it down
Dizzy Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I like the simplicity, some type would be nicethis and fix up some of the edges :P

Skidddz Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Reminds me of Southpark in some crazy way :L i thought exactly the same thing
G l Rare Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Reminds me of Southpark in some crazy way :L i thought exactly the same thing YES!!!! Right, this is good for a start, lets keep it basic though. We have the background in its simplest form, from here you want to work on depth. Shadow, lighting and positioning. Since the moon is in the center you've pretty much made your job easy as all the shadow will be facing south. Keep posting updates as you progress. Also bottom skull is on the wrong layer or are you making it look half buried in the ground?
Henrik Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 good work. I like how it's simple, yet still detailed. The moon and sky I liked especially, but the water could be slightly worked on. otherwise looks good!

I was going for that look with the bones, and ill work on it not sure how many updates ill post while im in bahamas or on plane, but i did do this: Wish saw post earlier as i didn't know how to tackle those shadows so i tried my "Toon" i do like the santa hat that i made:p although i will work on the lighting and shadowing next b/c the toon is harder than i thought the body and proportion is ugh.
G l Rare Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Told you it would be tedious and aggravating So many people want toons but hardly any understand the anger you go through creating them
x360 Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Told you it would be tedious and aggravating So many people want toons but hardly any understand the anger you go through creating them It is such a true statement, but I am not quitting on it mate:D
Stand Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Pen tool frustrates me lol. So props on getting that far. Looking forward to updates and finished product bro. Maybe try going with a jagged hair look? I know its overused but it might be the best option especially with that darn pen tool.
Wlli_Smith Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 solid start. after you make like 5 or so i reckon you'll be good enough for people to want to buy em.
